The result was fantastic- a mattress that was cool in the summer and stayed warm enough in winter, plus it could be turned regularly and therefore will last longer. I went proper forensic on the make up and materiels of the mattresses and decided that natural fillings are the best - the wooll matress was my 1st choice- but I did not kid myself there would be massive amounts of wool padding within the mattress - so in order to achieve a pillow top type mattress with a added bonus that it could be turned and therefore maintain its shape and form far better - I bought two merino wool mattress toppers and placed them on top of the bed just below the 100% cotton fitted sheet.

I realised thouigh that you cannot turn a pillow top mattress so in time it will form hollows where you constantly lie. I have bought my second latest mattress from Hypnos (elite silk firm) after previously buying the Orthos Wool Mattress 15 months earlier We decided to replace the Memory foam mattress in our bedroom as I was constantly sleeping in the spare bedroom on the more comfortable Hypnos wool mattress due to getting very hot in bed no matter what covers I had on the Memory foam- they build up heat and you are constantly turning in your sleep trying to find the 'cool spot' I studied the different types of mattress and like most people I was drawn to the premier inn pillow top mattress as I had pleasant sleeps each time we stayed in their hotels.
